I did not take these pictures of Patriot Rock, aka, Freedom Rock.  They were sent to me by a travelling friend.  I thought you might like to see them, just in case you are planning a trip to Iowa.

Patriot Rock, north of Greenfield Iowa just off I-80 in Western Iowa

Ray (Bubba) Sorensen II, has painted a Memorial Day tribute to our servicemen and servicewomen, both past and present, with a stirring tableau painted on a huge granite boulder which stands next to Highway 25. 

The boulder came out of the nearby 

Schillberg Rock Quarry and it weighs approx. 56 ton 

He began the painting 1999 and  

 last updated the Rock in August of this year.

HOOVER DAM

Hoover Dam, when built in 1931-1935, was the world’s largest.  It took 3500-5000 people working 24 hours a day for 4 years at a cost of $175,000,000 to complete.  The dam contains 6.6 million tons of concrete and generates 1,344,800 kilowatts.
